The Postman
was Kevin's second venture into directing but unlike the first time with
Dances with Wolves
no one thought too much of this futuristic tale of post holocaust America. What the critics missed (or maybe they didn't)
was that communications among humans is probably one of the single most important things to us.
Kevin gave his three
older children a much bigger role then the ones they had in
DWW. Joe was just walking when
DWW
was filmed and this time he was the
Letter Boy. A pivotal role to Kevin in the whole movie was the look on the
boy's face when he thought he had missed the Postman.
Annie in
DWW was a young Christine (Stands With
A Fist) when the Indians attacked her family which were Cindy (Kevin's wife) was her mother, and the younger children were
Lily and Joe playing with the chickens. This time Annie was
Ponytail and Lily was the little girl,
Lily
March who sang
"God Bless America" as the Postman rode off to deliver their mail.
